Mmmm, Donuts

I am sitting here, listening to the on-line radio, and there is a guy who called in and is bashing Krispy Kreme donuts. Dude, don't go there. I had to turn off the sound. I couldn't take it. Who in their right, sugary mind, doesn't like a fresh, hot Krispy Kreme donut? Maybe someone who is a diabetic, or someone who is health conscience. But hello? They are heaven. They melt in your mouth, they're sugary decadence! Come on people!!!!

  1. if you check out my comments in response to you and joel on my post "day 3" you will find that i am discussing the popular idiom, "there is no accounting for taste." well, that little axiom was never more true than now: i'm not a fan of krispy kreme. i just don't see what the big deal is. why anyone would go to a krispy kreme donut shop in a world where dunkin' donuts exists is way, WAY beyond me. but then again, there is no accounting for taste...

  2. Bill and I discussed this too. I'm okay if you like Dunkin' Donuts and not Kripy Kreme. Their (KK) donuts are much more sweet and sugary. But this guy wasn't even allowing for anyone else's opinion. He was adamant and quite stuck in his way.

My main reason that I don't like Dunkin' Donuts and do like Krispy Kreme is that KK offers the flavor donut that I like while DD does not. It happens to be chocolate covered cream (not custard) filled. Mmmm donuts...

By the way, Bill is bringing me one as I type. What a great guy!

  3. Oh man. My KK donut was so yummy. And so full of sugar. I am now a little sugar shakey. Mmmm, sugar.

  4. This is an important debate. Perhaps THE most important debate in the entire blogosphere. I like Krispy ok, but when you factor in the WHOLE experience of, Dunkin' kicks Krispy's butt.
Seriously, have you ever had Krispy's coffee? Take coffee you brewed at home, LAST WEEK, burn it in the microwave for three, four hours minimum. Add 1/2% milk and re-microwave for 30 minutes....you get the idea. Who can eat a donut, no matter how good without coffee? It's THE reason why Dunkin is second only to Starbucks in coffee sales worldwide. I suubmit the donut is not as important as the EXPERIENCE!

  5. Wow! Well, does that solve the debate of the donut? Is it the experience or just the donut (because that's all I'm talking about here). I'm perfectly happy bringing my donut home and enjoying my own cup of coffee with it. 'Cause West Coast Coffee is pretty good!

  6. look, bill is absolutely correct. the experience is paramount here. maybe you can buy a kk donut and have the self-control to refrain from eating it until you get in your car, drive all the way home and brew a pot a coffee. but that would never, i repeat NEVER happen with a dd donut. when you walk in that place, you have entered olfactory heaven, and forces beyond your control coerce you to eat the donut right there. even if you try to just buy the donut and make a clean escape, you WILL succomb and start eating it during your drive home. it's inevitable. don't fight it. dd donuts and coffee are just better.

finally, it is my opinion that, ON THEIR OWN, dd donuts are superior to kk donuts. but that is probably because i prefer cake donuts (toasted coconut is incredible. have you tried the sour cream? OMYGOSH).

    i can already smell them...

  7. Greg, I will now have to try to sour cream donuts. I do like dd pumpkin muffins. Those are yummy. Again, I am kind of holding a grudge because they only have the chocolate covered custard filled. I do love a good glazed donut tho!
