I have never felt better.
Actually, most days are a complete 180 from today.
Last week I had a bad head cold. I pushed through and worked on the home office. Bill did his part and got the walls patched, sanded and primed. They are ready to paint.
I was all ready to paint.
Until my body decided that having the flu was a much better idea.
Yuck.
Don't get this. It's awful.
For awhile I thought it was food poisoning again.
But I always know what food is the cause and I can't pinpoint anything this time.
Don't google Norovirus. Unless you want to read about what I've been going through.
The good news is my cold is gone.
I really hope no one else gets this. If you do, I'm so sorry.
Everyone has a story. This is mine. This is my place to share my thoughts, random insights, and photos (if I remember).

May the 4th be with you
My mom, sister (with new baby) and I met at Grandma's house today. We went out to lunch with her and the aunts.
The whole ride there, I was thinking about family and thought I'd write a post about it.
That was twelve hours ago. I don't remember what I was going to say. Something profound and likely poetic, I'm sure.
I got distracted by the cuteness that is my nephew. He makes the best faces. Of course I took photos. And yes, they're still on the camera. It gives me something to post later when I finally get to them.
Yup, that's all I've got. I haven't slept very well the last two nights. Bill and I both had sore throats the other day, but by this morning I was really feeling better. All day I felt fine. Now, my nose is pretty runny/stuffy. How is that possible? Do you know what I'm talking about?
I'm going to bed. I'd promise a better post tomorrow, but I don't want to be held accountable for that kind of disappointment.
One last thing regarding the title of this post: I heard it on the radio this morning and that is what my brain chose to remember. I think it's amusing, being a Star Wars fan. How have I never heard this before?

sickies Thursday
Skylar and I met Sarah at the mall this morning. Skylar had taken some Advil Cold & Sinus because she wasn't feeling great. By the time we left the mall, Skylar was shivering. It was cold, so I wasn't sure if she had chills or if she was just cold.
We came back to the house and she fell asleep. Before she fell asleep she told me her head hurt. I gave her some Ibuprofen. She slept for two and a half hours. She woke up when she flung off the blankets. I took her temperature. It was 102.6
Um, I'm not a mom, but I know that's high.
We dug through the cupboard and found some acetaminophen and gave her one of those to break her fever. She had some yogurt and is still awake.
Fortunately we didn't have anything else planned today. Dinner tonight is steaks and risotto. We'll see if she's feeling better by then.

what happens when I have too much sugar
The other day I had a brownie, a piece of rum cake and strawberry shortcake. Now I feel a head cold coming on.
The two have nothing to do with each other. However, it is a coincidence that in the past when I've had a lot of sugar, I have gotten a cold immediately. I don't know how the two relate to each other, but it happens.
Today, to fight off the cold, I had blueberries with my yogurt, a large glass of o.j., a Clementine, and freshly squeezed lemon in my water. I'm having butternut squash and spinach risotto for dinner.
Besides the five glasses of water I've already consumed, if this doesn't help me get better faster, nothing will.

"by sduffy head"
I am not sick. I don't feel sick. I don't have a fever. But I do have a sinus infection. And, as the nurse said yesterday, I sound like a three-pack a day smoker!
I already had an innocent round of sinusitis back in February. Everything was clear and the Advil Cold and Sinus meds took care of me. No need to waste a trip to the doctor. I was feeling better by our trip to Nashville. Again, I didn't feel sick, just the runny, stuffy nose. It all started the same way on Sunday. Sinuses draining giving me a sore throat. I tried the Advil again, but it really did nothing to help. Yesterday morning I woke up to the husky voice and let's just say colorful mucus. (I don't mince words because how else do we learn? I didn't know until adulthood that green or yellow mucus is how you know you are really sick!) I knew this wasn't going away on its own. I made an appointment.
In the fastest doctor's visit ever (in and out in 35 minutes and that includes the time it took to enter all my information into their new computer system and waiting to be called) he confirmed Bill's diagnosis (kudos dear hubby, you should have been a doctor) and gave me a prescription for the now infamous "Z-pak"
I must remember that when a medicine says it "can be taken with or without food" my stomach is too sensitive to take it without food. Hence the stomach pains I had after wolfing down the two pills. Hey, I was eager to get them in my system and get them working! I survived and am sounding much better. I've used less tissues and my eyes have stopped watering. Yay for fast working drugs!!

food poisoning

I don't recommend it as a diet. However, in the week before a cruise, it does help. I will now look great in all of my clothes. Something I was actually worried about because I felt like I was the size of a hot air balloon (my jeans were way too tight, I measured my waist, it was the same, but I knew something was wrong). Yes. Something was wrong. My entire weeks worth of meals came out of me in a twelve hour period on Saturday. Yuck! So now that I've completely de-toxed my body, I get to go buy a new pair of jeans today. You know something? The B.R.A.T. diet does do wonders for one's weight. I think I'm going to try to eat it for the rest of the week.
I digress, this last weekend was supposed to be very busy. I was supposed to clean all day Saturday, after cooking breakfast for the Jr. Highers. Sunday, the flute choir played in church (I was supposed to be a part of that) and then, immediately after church, I was supposed to go to Grandma's to visit her, Mom and Skylar. Well, obviously I was not involved in any of that.
The Jr. High showed up for breakfast, but the adults cooked it and cleaned up (thank you again!!!). I was, as Heather said, "pretty much ready to blow chunks at any minute." I managed to wait until after they left before that party started. I had to call Mary (head of the flute choir) and explain to her 90 year-old aunt (whose name is also Mary) that I had food poisoning, "what?" "FOOD POISONING!" "You have a new position?" "NO! I HAVE FOOD POISONING!" "Oh, food poisoning, that's terrible dear." yes. tell me about it. Don't worry, Mary called me on Sunday to assure me that they did fine without me. And that there would be no practice since they had played in both services (um, I wasn't going to go even if there was practice). And that the next performance will be Dec. 16th. Sorry, I can't make it!!!
I didn't get to go see Mom, Grandma, or Skylar either. Bummer. I had a whole bunch of stuff to give to Mom. Oh well. I'll see her in December.
Yesterday didn't start out so well (the cheeseburger Sunday night, while it tasted wonderful at the time, wasn't so wonderful the next morning). It wasn't until Heather told me some of the lines from the overnight and I laughed that I finally started feeling better! (well, that and the one piece of toast I ate all morning)
I just thought I'd let you know that we leave in four days. For the Mediterranean. I am finally feeling better. Much better. Very clean on the inside, that's for sure. I'm also hungry...
