Beloved

Ha, this reminds me of the SNL 40th Anniversary special and the Jeopardy sketch. Did you see it? Do you know what I'm going to reference? If not, this is the setup: Darrell Hammond as Sean Connery asking Will Ferrell as Alex Trebek for the category "The Rapists" and Alex irritatingly saying, "that's therapists."

Sorry, it's sort of tasteless for this post and the purpose, but beloved made me think of that.

Be loved.

Or beloved.

See?

Don't worry if you don't get it. My brain is on its own track.

Back to beloved. I think it's quite obvious who my beloved is.

Juliette of course.

What? That's not what you were expecting me to say?

Oh, you thought I'd say Bill.

Yes, he's my beloved. I'm still on the same track as earlier. Okay, maybe I should just stop here.

Easter Sunday and Bill's birthday

8:15am church service, Sunday brunch up at the "center", golf cart driving (aka terrorizing senior citizens on the golf course, we may have been going the wrong way, that is still tbd), cribbage, euchre, pasta salad, hot wing chicken dip, and "the" birthday cake.

All in all it was a good day. Happy Birthday to my best friend!

thanks for the thanks

These greeted me when I walked into the church office today. I said those are pretty and our receptionist informed me that they were for me!

Oh!

Of course they are from Bill. He sent them to me as a small token of gratitude for helping him in his office while his office manager was on vacation.

He's the best.

This is the irony post. I'm thankful that Bill thanked me with a bouquet of flowers.

3.14

It's "Pi"e day. I forgot all about it until Bill reminded me when he came home from work with a McDonald's Apple Pie and a Shamrock shake!

On top of both of those wonderful treats, it was also a beautiful day. It got to 50 degrees! The snow is finally melting. It was sunny. I didn't even wear a coat when I ran out to the store.

Our fireplace is finally repaired.

Last year, on this day, this photo was taken.

I had no hope of seeing any crocus today, but then given the temperature, when I checked the mail I glanced over at the spot closest to the house where the majority of the croci are planted.

Sure enough! There are green stems coming out of the ground. One little patch even had purple buds just like those above. They aren't as upright, the cold has wilted them. But there is green.

When Bill let Atticus out this morning, he declared that he could smell spring.

I believe him.

Then I passed a dead skunk on the road.

That's another sign of spring.

Whew.

Today I have an abundance of thanks.

For the crocus, for the smell of spring, for apple pies (even if they weren't pie shaped), for repaired fireplaces (yes, we see the irony of the warmer weather), for Shamrock shakes and for Bill because it was an amazing gesture.

blogging too late

Just a few minutes ago, while I was still washing the dishes, I asked Bill is he would blog for me. He laughed and said no! My feelings are hurt.

Just kidding, they're not, but I can't let him off too easy. He's been a big help. He always has been, but I want to give him internet-blog props (and knowing this is his love language won't hurt).

Tomorrow my mom is coming to visit. My aunts Barb and Marilyn are bringing her. Grandma will also be along for the ride.

Bill has helped me cook dinner (not just help, he's cooked dinner) every night this week and tonight he helped me clean. I just made a pasta salad and crumb cake for tomorrow. Between painting, working (you know, my real job), laundry and dishes, I haven't had much time to do anything else.

Thanks goodness for my fabulous husband (even if he won't write a blog for me).

The funny thing is that I've given him so much kudos that it may end up sounding like he actually wrote this (he didn't, I promise).

Tomorrow, I hope it's not this late when I get to write my blog. I get more creative at night (isn't that how it always goes?) but I'm a morning person. So the creative juices either have to wait it out until morning, or... well wait until morning. Tonight was not a typical scenario. But the creative juices are happy. And possibly delirious. Good night.

Happy Birthday to my "dear" husband

Today is Bill's birthday. He has taken to writing about people, on their birthdays, on his blog. I thought I would do the same for him, on my blog.

Whoa, does that make sense? I need more coffee...

Anyway, to my "dear" husband. When I typed that on his facebook wall, I accidentally typed "dead". Of course I didn't mean it. My fingers are faster than my brain sometimes. If you could see half the things I type (for instance, when talking about a Signing Santa for Quota, I continue to type Singing Satan, big difference) you would get a good laugh.

Oh wait, this is about Bill.

He's my best friend. He's a "wonderful" husband. That is from Wheel of Fortune. Watch that show for one week and everyone talks about their "wonderful" spouse. Apparently no one has a thesaurus and can come up with a different adjective.

Bill is funny, fantastic, and fabulous. He's superb, silly and smart. He's an uncle, unique and ubiquitous (okay, that's sort of a stretch, that's what I get for going for the letter "U"). He's a helper, handy and handsome. As well as a ham and he likes hamburgers and he's my husband. He's a dear, not dead, delightful and desirable.

Now I see why everyone sticks with wonderful.

Happy Birthday Bill. I can't believe I've been with you for twelve birthdays. Each year gets better. We're like fine wine. Here's to barrel aged wine (or scotch) and here's to you. I wouldn't want to spend my years with anyone but you (okay, this also sounds like it belongs with our anniversary, not your birthday. It's a fine line for love).

I love you and I don't need your birthday to tell you that. I hope you have a happy day and a grandiose year!
