the one good thing

It's Friday. That's not the only good thing about today, so I'll continue to list them in order to try and be positive.

It's Bill birthday. We had a birthday cookie (cake will be served later).

I got my hair cut (or "got my hairs did", as Bill likes to say). It's always cuter when someone else styles it.

We're going to eat at one of our favorite places, the Rockford Corner Bar. They're famous for their chili dogs. Then we're going to go bowling. It will be fun! We're going with a couple of our friends, so I'm sure everyone will have a great time. I'm taking my camera, so maybe by next year I'll have posted some of those photos.

The reason I'm trying to be positive is because it's rainy. Yuck. And because Google decided that the best way to make everyone happy was to change the look of the blog. I'm not against change. But why? What was wrong with the old look? The new look is making use of a lot of empty space by keeping it empty. How does that make my blog better? Of course, you don't see any of this blank space unless you are a blogger on Google too.

At least until Google decides they should change the look of the published side of the blog too.

I sent them feedback. Threatening to take my creativity to another blog. I'm sure they will respond accordingly.

I'm in a mood and this did not help it.

I'm trying desperately to get out of the mood because it's Bill's birthday. There's nothing worse than fighting on a birthday/holiday with your loved one.

Where's the sun? That would help.

ready for the country club

I should have taken a picture.

Last night I had a Quota meeting. We are meeting in a new location (actually we used to meet there years ago, but then we moved, and now we're moving back), Centennial Country Club.

I like to get a little dressed up, since I have "business casual" clothes but rarely get to wear them. They're a little too formal for church, but perfect for Quota meetings. I chose my outfit: a powder blue, short sleeved cashmere top with a black, knee length skirt.

I laughed to myself as I looked in the mirror. I fit "country club" to a tee (ha, pardon the pun), except for my raspberry hair. Parts of it had started to fade. It was interesting. I wondered if anyone would say anything to me. The restaurant is open to the public, so I'm sure they see a well-rounded group of patrons.

Needless to say, no one said anything, except for Quotarians who couldn't believe I still had pink in my hair. Today however, that has changed. I'm back to brunette. Pink was fun for the summer. But I'm happy to be back to my regular hair color.

Look what I did!!!

I challenged the Quota ladies back in the fall. If they could bring a specific number of guests to our five remaining regular meetings, or a larger number to our January event; they could choose what color I would dye my hair. By the February meeting, it was clear that they weren't going to make it (and it wasn't unreasonable, if every one who attended meetings regularly brought one person they would have reached it) so I modified the numbers. We had one person who was close to joining, so I told the club that if they could get two people to join by March, I would dye my hair. (Can you see how willing I was to do this?) In March we installed one new member and Thursday night we will install one more (she couldn't attend the March meeting) and we have another new member who can't make it Thursday, so we'll install her in May.

Now while all of this has been creeping up on me, I had a couple of decisions to make. First, I couldn't dye my hair before Cyndi got married. Because for her first wedding I had chopped all of my hair off in a pixie cut (it was the 90's).

Second, I would have to chop my hair off because I wasn't going to try to grow out the colored hair.

And lastly, what color would they pick?

Well the time came for the club to suggest colors. When "rainbow" started getting tossed around I quickly interjected and told them the color limit was two. Apparently they thought that meant they must pick two. The end vote was pink (heavily suggested by me) with purple stripes...

(it's just pink and I love it!!!)

We interupt this program....

To share pictures of an important event!

Here I am, hanging an ornament on the tree... You may notice the length of my hair...

My bff Heather O. came with me to the salon. Time for a cut. Here's Heather the stylist, measuring my hair.

After it's washed, she piles it up on my head so I can walk from the sink to the chair without dripping all down my back. But I stopped for the photo op, so I still dripped.

Pippi Longstocking! Look how long it is!!

Heather has carefully measured out two ponytails at 11" each. Here she is hacking away at the second one. Her scissors were way too small to handle such a big job!

Here are my two "rat tails" ready to send to Locks of Love! I think they will go a long way. The weight of them, holy moly, they were heavy. Everyone was coming over to pick them up. No one could believe I was walking around with that much hair on my head! Well, I was.

Here's the new cut! Three years and I can do it again! Thanks for sharing this with me.

I've been talking about this for a few years. If you know someone who can donate their hair, check out this website...

Good bye long hair!
